All Achievements

Begum Khaleda Zia took office in March 1991 following free general elections, serving as the first female Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Her administration enacted the Twelfth Amendment restoring the parliamentary governance system, launched compulsory free primary education, and introduced the groundbreaking female stipend program.

Enacted the 12th Constitutional Amendment in August 1991 with unanimous parliamentary consensus, transferring executive power from the President to an elected Prime Minister accountable to Parliament.
