History

Founded on September 1, 1978 by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party emerged during a critical period of national transition to restore multi-party democracy.

Over the decades, BNP administrations led major national developments, including the 19-Point Programme, female secondary stipends, free primary education, Jamuna Bridge, and constitutional reforms.
